A 2 post car lift raises the vehicle by its frame points, so wheels, brakes and suspension stay open for work. How to Choose a 2 Post Car Lift

Three choices decide most 2-post purchases: the column style, the arm layout and the capacity. Get those right and the shortlist gets short.

Clear Floor vs Floor Plate

  • Clear Floor (Overhead) — The columns are tied together above the vehicle, so the floor between them stays open for jacks, carts and oil drains. Examples: Atlas PV10PX and 9OHSC, KATOOL KT-M110 and KT-M120, ATD 2P9A and 2P12S.
  • Floor Plate (Baseplate) — The columns are tied together at the floor under a plate you drive over. Examples: Atlas BP8000, BP10000X and BP12000X, ATD 2P9F and 2P12F.

Symmetric, Asymmetric and Versymmetric Arms

  • Symmetric — Equal-length arms center the vehicle between the columns. Suits trucks and longer wheelbases. Examples: Rotary SPO10, SPO12 and SPO20, KATOOL KT-H120D.
  • Asymmetric — Shorter front arms set the car further back, which gives more door-opening room. Examples: Rotary SPOA10, KATOOL KT-AS110D, ATD 2P11BS.
  • Versymmetric — The Challenger VLE10 and CL10AV3 can be set up either way.

Capacity Range

  • 7,000 lb — Rotary SPOA7 movable pad lift for quick service.
  • 9,000 to 12,000 lb — The bulk of the range, for cars, SUVs and light trucks.
  • 14,000 to 20,000 lb — KATOOL KT-M140XD, Atlas PV15PX and Platinum PVL15, Rotary SPO20 for heavy-duty trucks and fleets.
