Length Buys Angle, and Angle Is Everything
Loading onto a 48-inch box truck deck over a 9 ft ramp is roughly a 45 percent gradient. Over 12 feet the same deck is closer to 33 percent.
For a trike sitting low with weight far back, that difference decides whether the rear end contacts the crest and whether the machine keeps traction on the way up.
It matters as much coming down. A steep descent on a heavy three-wheeler is controlled by brakes alone; a shallow one lets the machine walk down.
Note the Centre Ramp Rating
This set is rated at 3,000 lbs total with 1,000 lbs on the centre section — both lower than the 8, 9 and 10 ft sets in the range, which carry 4,500 lbs and 1,500 lbs respectively.
That is the trade for the extra length: more span between supports means a lower rating per section. It is worth checking your machine against the 1,000 lb centre figure if the front wheel and the operator will be on that section together.
Folded, each of the three pieces is 6 ft 1/2 in long and 5 inches thick at 61 lbs — a one-person carry, three times over.
