Description

Atlas TC229 Tire Changer — 885 ft-lbs Turntable and Built-In Bead Seating

A tire that refuses to take its bead eats the whole job. You chase it with a strap, a shot of air, then another shot, and the next car is still sitting in the bay. One stubborn wheel can cost you the slot you had for two.

The Atlas TC229 puts the Beadblaster in the machine itself, so bead seating is part of the same station where you mounted the tire. Behind it sits a 1 HP table motor turning out 885 ft-lbs of torque and a 5,500 lb bead breaker, with clamping that reaches from 9 3/4" externally to 25 1/4" internally.

Why Choose the TC229

Bead seating happens at the machine, not with a second tool you have to go find.

  • The Beadblaster is part of the changer, so the wheel stays on the table from mount to seated bead.
  • 885 ft-lbs of turntable torque and a 5,500 lb bead breaker take on stiff sidewalls and tight low-profile beads.
  • Six clamping positions — three external from 9 3/4" to 23 1/4", three internal from 11 5/8" to 25 1/4" — cover the wheel mix a general shop sees in a week.
  • Runs on 110 volts and shop air, so a standard bay outlet is enough to put it to work.

What's Included

  • Column-mounted inflator box with gauge
  • Filter / regulator / lubricator
  • 20" tire tool
  • Lube bucket with brush
  • Set of large plastic jaw covers
  • Plastic cover for the bead breaker shovel
  • Multiple replacement plastic inserts for the mount/demount head

Made For

Built for shops that mount and dismount tires as part of the daily workload, not as an occasional favor.

  • Independent tire shops running passenger and light truck work
  • Full-service repair shops that treat tires as a profit center
  • Quick-lube and service centers adding rotation and replacement
  • Used-car dealerships reconditioning trade-ins
  • Fleet maintenance bays handling low-profile and sealed-bead tires

Features

  • Built-in Beadblaster — bead seating is part of the changer, so the wheel never leaves the table
  • 5,500 lb bead breaker — takes a stiff sidewall off the rim without repeated hits
  • 885 ft-lbs turntable torque — keeps the table turning through tight beads instead of stalling
  • 1 HP table motor — sized for back-to-back wheels all shift
  • External clamping 9 3/4" to 23 1/4" — three preset positions grip from outside the rim
  • Internal clamping 11 5/8" to 25 1/4" — three more positions for bigger wheels clamped from inside
  • 39" maximum tire diameter, 13" maximum wheel width — covers light truck and oversized fitments
  • 110-volt operation — runs off a standard shop circuit plus shop air at 90-110 PSI

Beadblaster Bead Seating

Run-flats, stiff performance sidewalls and any tire that has sat on a wheel for a season can refuse to seat under normal inflation. The usual answer is a separate bead-seating tool: another item to keep charged, keep clean and keep track of.

The TC229 carries the Beadblaster as part of the machine. The wheel stays where you mounted it, and the column-mounted inflator box with gauge sits right there for the fill, so one operator works one station instead of moving between tools.

Clamping Range and Bead Breaker

The turntable offers three external positions covering 9 3/4" to 23 1/4" and three internal positions covering 11 5/8" to 25 1/4". Six settings mean you pick the closest one and go, rather than adjusting jaws for every wheel. Steel, aluminum and alloy rims all run on the same table.

The bead breaker brings 5,500 lbs of force against the sidewall and handles wheels up to 13" wide, while the table itself takes tires up to 39" in diameter. Between the two, a compact passenger tire and an oversized light truck tire are the same job with a different setting.

The Right Tire Changer for Your Shop

With built-in Beadblaster seating, 885 ft-lbs of turntable torque, a 5,500 lb bead breaker and six clamping positions, the TC229 is set up for a bay that turns tires every day. The 110-volt supply and shop air keep the install requirements ordinary.
