Swing-arm tire changers work great until the wheel doesn't quite fit the geometry. With a fixed column, the operator has to dodge the arm on every mount, and on wider wheels the column gets in the way of the M/D head. Tilt-back machines solve the geometry but tend to cost double — and most don't come with the assist arm that does the real work on stiff sidewalls.
The Atlas Platinum PTC600 is a true tilt-back rim-clamp changer at a Platinum-line price. The column tilts back to clear the wheel for mounting, then locks vertically for the cycle. A right-hand bead-pressing and bead-rolling assist arm is included standard. The M/D head uses pneumatic locking — dramatically lowering the risk of the head shifting during use and gouging a rim. 29 in internal clamping range and a 16 in bead breaker handle wider wheels than the rest of the PTC line.
Built for the professional tire dealer and the large car dealership working a high mix of premium-finish wheels and stiff-sidewall tires.
A standard swing-arm changer pivots the column out of the way once the wheel is clamped — but that pivot still leaves the column standing vertical over the turntable. On extra-wide rims and deep-offset alloys, the operator ends up fighting that column geometry on every mount. The PTC600's tilt-back column lays down to clear the wheel entirely, then locks back vertical for the cycle.
The downstream benefit is the pneumatic locking M/D head. With the column tilted, the head can be lowered onto the rim with zero offset, then locked pneumatically in position. It doesn't shift mid-cycle, which is the most common cause of rim gouging on conventional swing-arm changers.
The PTC600 has the widest clamping range of the Platinum rim-clamp line: 12 in to 29 in internal, 10 in to 27 in external. That covers the full range of modern car, SUV, and light-truck wheels — including the 26 in dually rims and the 28 in custom alloys that the PTC300 / PTC400 can't fit.
The 16 in bead breaker capacity matches the wider rim range. Combined with the 6,924 lb breaker force and the built-in Beadblaster, the PTC600 handles the wide stiff-sidewall tires that come with those bigger wheels without auxiliary tanks or strap tricks.
The PTC600 is the answer when the shop needs tilt-back geometry, pneumatic head locking, and the widest clamping range in the rim-clamp Platinum line — without paying European-brand prices for those features.
