Description

Atlas Platinum PTC500 Center-Post Tire Changer with Lever/No-Lever System

High-volume tire shops face two problems with the most challenging wheel-tire combinations: the tires keep getting harder to mount (stiff sidewalls, low-profile alloys, run-flats), and the wheels keep getting more expensive to scratch ($2K+ rims aren't unusual). A standard center-post changer handles the geometry but still relies on manual tire tools that risk rim damage on every mount.

The Atlas Platinum PTC500 is the top of the center-post Platinum line and includes patented innovations that change how the machine works. The Lever/No-Lever System lets the operator switch between standard tool-assisted mounts and fully leverless mounts — no metal tool ever touches the bead on a high-end alloy. The Smart Lock center-post system clamps the wheel with a single lever flip, eliminating the thread-and-pneumatic-lock routine. Dual assist arms, an integrated wheel lift, and external bead-blasting round out the feature set.

Built for the highest-volume independent tire shops and dealerships that handle premium alloys, run-flats, and the most difficult wheel-tire combinations every day.

  • High-volume independent tire shops
  • Dealership service departments handling premium vehicles
  • Custom wheel and motorsport shops
  • Detail and concours shops working concours-finish wheels

Features

  • Lever/No-Lever System — patented — mount tires with or without manual lever, your choice.
  • Smart Lock center-post — flip-of-a-lever locking — no thread, no pneumatic chase.
  • Dual assist arms — left and right pressing/lifting arms for stiff sidewalls.
  • Integrated wheel lift — saves backs and protects $2K+ alloy wheels from drop damage.
  • 12 in to 30 in clamping range — covers cars, light trucks, full-size SUVs, and dually wheels.
  • 47 in max tire diameter — fits the largest passenger / light-truck tire combinations.
  • External flexible bead-blasting — seats the most difficult stiff sidewalls.
  • 6,924 lb bead breaker force — Italian-built pneumatic, anodized aluminum cylinder.
  • Italian engineering and componentry — Platinum-line build at Factory Direct pricing.

Lever/No-Lever System: Patented for a Reason

Modern alloy wheels and the matching low-profile, run-flat tires don't forgive a slipped lever. One scrape from a tire tool on the bead seat shows up as a marker scratch the customer notices the day after. The PTC500's Lever/No-Lever System lets the operator switch between traditional tool-assisted mounting (faster on easier tires) and full leverless mounting (zero risk on expensive alloys) without changing machines.

In leverless mode, the dual assist arms do all the work. The left-hand arm presses the upper bead into the drop center, the M/D head rolls around the rim, and the tire mounts without a metal tool ever touching the wheel. On a $3K Porsche or BMW alloy, that's the difference between a clean mount and a $500 wheel touch-up.

Smart Lock and Integrated Wheel Lift

The Smart Lock center-post system replaces the typical "thread the cone, set the pneumatic lock" routine with a single lever flip. The operator drops the wheel on the post, flips the lever, and the wheel is locked in position. That's 5–10 seconds per wheel saved over a traditional center post, and over a 100-wheel day it compounds.

The integrated wheel lift is the other ergonomic win. Lifting a 70 lb chrome alloy onto the turntable 100 times in a shift is a back injury waiting to happen, and a single drop on a concrete floor can destroy a $2K wheel. The lift takes both risks off the table — drop the wheel on the lift, raise it to the turntable, lock and start.

The Right Tire Changer for Your Shop

The PTC500 is the answer for the shop that's already running a center-post changer and wants to step up to the patented Italian flagship. Lever/No-Lever, Smart Lock, wheel lift, dual assist arms, external bead-blasting — every difficult-tire workflow gets faster and safer.
