If you run a commercial shop with a low ceiling and you've ruled out every overhead two-post lift on the market because of clearance, you're not alone. Plenty of body shops, tire shops, and small service bays end up settling for a smaller hobbyist lift just to fit the building. The Atlas BP10000X is the commercial answer to that compromise.
At 111 7/8 inches of total column height — just over 9 ft 3 in — the BP10000X installs in a 9 ft 6 in to 10 ft ceiling and gives you a full 10,000 lb of lifting capacity. The oversized 9 1/2 in by 11 in columns carry welded support gussets for extra rigidity under load, the cylinders are built to ANSI standard, and the symmetric arms give you flexibility on how vehicles sit on the lift.
Built for commercial shops where ceiling height is fixed but the work isn't going to wait for a new building.
The BP10000X is built around a pair of oversized 9 1/2 in by 11 in columns, each reinforced with a welded support gusset in the middle. That's what separates it from hobbyist-grade baseplate lifts — when you hang a 10,000 lb truck off the arms, the columns aren't flexing. The cylinders are dual hydraulic chain-drive units built to ANSI standard, which matters for both safety inspections and long-term durability under repeated daily cycles.
The super-symmetric arm design gives you arm reach that's even on both sides of the column. That makes it easier to position larger vehicles consistently and keeps the load distributed evenly across the column. Combined with the 4 inch minimum arm height, you can still get under low-clearance vehicles when needed.
The whole reason the BP10000X exists is to put a real commercial two-post lift into a building that wasn't designed for one. At 111 7/8 inches of column height, this lift drops into 10 ft ceilings cleanly — no cutting into joists, no relocating lighting, no reframing the bay. Most shops can install it with a 4 inch slab as long as the concrete is rated for 3,000 psi.
The single-point lock release means a tech can lower a vehicle without walking around to disengage each column separately, which adds up over a day of repeated cycles. The 220V single-phase motor runs on a 30 amp breaker that's already in most shop buildings, so installation rarely requires a panel upgrade.
The BP10000X is the lift you reach for when the building's already there, the ceiling isn't moving, and you still need real commercial capacity. It splits the difference between hobbyist baseplate lifts and full-height overhead commercial lifts — without giving up the things you actually need.
