Bluff Model AC 10,000 lb Aluminum Dock Board with Steel Curbs

A trailer bed almost never sits level with the dock. Roll a loaded pallet jack across that step and the wheels catch, the load shifts, and somebody gets hurt. A board that is too light for the job bends, and a board with no curbs lets a wheel run off the edge.

The Bluff Model AC is a 10,000 lb aluminum dock board with full-length structural steel curbs bolted along both sides. The deck is high-grade diamond deck aluminum, so two people can reposition it, and the steel curbs add the strength and the runoff protection that a bare aluminum plate cannot give you.

Why Choose the Bluff Model AC

It gives you steel-grade edge protection and a 10,000 lb rating without the dead weight of an all-steel board.

  • Rated at 10,000 lbs across every size, so the rating does not change when you order a longer board
  • Full-length structural steel curbs are bolted on rather than welded, adding their own load-carrying strength to the deck
  • Locking legs drop into the trailer gap and hold the board in position while the forklift crosses
  • Sizes run from 54" to 72" wide and 30" to 96" long, so the board can be matched to the dock opening and the height difference

Made For

Built for docks that move a low to medium volume of freight with forklifts and pallet jacks.

  • Warehouses and distribution centers
  • Manufacturing plants with a receiving dock
  • Retail and grocery back-of-house docks
  • Third-party logistics and cross-dock operations
  • Fleet and transportation yards loading box trucks

Features

  • 10,000 lb capacity — handles forklifts and loaded pallet jacks on a low to medium volume dock
  • Diamond deck aluminum decking — grip underfoot and under wheel, and light enough to move without a machine
  • Full-length bolt-on structural steel curbs — stop a wheel running off the side and stiffen the whole deck
  • Locking legs — hold the board in place against the trailer instead of letting it creep
  • 11" lip with an 11° bend — a smooth transition from the dock edge onto the trailer floor
  • 3/8" or 1/2" tread plate — deck thickness matched to the board size
  • ANSI MH30.2 — manufactured and tested in compliance with the dock board standard

Aluminum Deck, Steel Curbs

An all-aluminum board is easy to move but flexes at the edges. An all-steel board is rigid but takes a machine to reposition. The Model AC splits the difference: the deck is diamond deck aluminum, and the two side curbs are structural steel, bolted the full length of the board.

Because the curbs are bolted rather than welded, their mass works with the deck instead of just sitting on top of it. The result is a board that carries 10,000 lbs, keeps a wheel from running off the edge, and still weighs a fraction of the steel equivalent — a 60" x 48" AC6048 comes in at 157 lbs.

The locking legs are the other half of the safety picture. They drop into the gap between dock and trailer and keep the board seated where you set it, so the board is not walking sideways every time a forklift crosses.

Choosing the Size for Your Dock

Two numbers decide the board. The first is width: it needs to clear the door opening and give the forklift room either side of the tires. The Model AC is offered in 54", 60", 66" and 72" widths.

The second is length, and that is set by the height difference between your dock and the trailer floor. A longer board spreads the same step over more distance, which flattens the grade. A 36" board suits a small step; a 96" board is there for the trailers that sit well below the dock.

The standard lip is 11" long with an 11° bend, which suits conventional trailers. A 14" lip is available for refrigerated applications, where the floor sits deeper inside the trailer, and EZ-Roll handles can be added so one person can walk the board into position.

The Right Dock Board for Your Shop

The Model AC is the board for a dock that runs forklifts and pallet jacks all day without running a freight terminal's volume. You get a 10,000 lb rating, steel curbs the full length of both sides, locking legs, and a deck light enough to move by hand.

Pick the width from your door opening and the length from the height difference you have to cover, then add EZ-Roll handles if the board will be repositioned often.
