SKU AMC-400
Description

Black Widow AMC-400 Aluminum Motorcycle Carrier β€” Hitch Mounted, No Trailer

Towing a trailer for one small bike means storing a trailer, registering a trailer, reversing a trailer and paying for a trailer. For a dirt bike or a scooter that is a lot of infrastructure for a short trip.

The AMC-400 carries the bike on the tow hitch instead. A 75-1/4 inch track holds up to 400 lbs, a 47 inch ramp loads it, and the whole carrier is 36.5 lbs of aluminum.

Why Choose the AMC-400

Hitch-mounted transport with nothing to tow.

  • Mounts to a 2 in receiver β€” Class III or IV, so most trucks and SUVs already have one.
  • 47 in loading ramp β€” the bike is walked up, not lifted.
  • 36.5 lbs of aluminum β€” lifted on and off the hitch by one person, and it will not rust.
  • 75-1/4 in track β€” full wheelbase support for dirt bikes and scooters.

What's Included

  • Black Widow AMC-400 aluminum motorcycle carrier
  • 47 in loading ramp
  • Hitch mounting hardware

Made For

Built for hauling one lighter bike without owning a trailer.

  • Dirt bikes and trail bikes to the riding area
  • Scooters and mopeds
  • Small-displacement road bikes inside the 400 lb rating
  • Trucks and SUVs with a 2 in Class III or IV receiver
  • Anyone with nowhere to keep a trailer

Features

  • 400 lb maximum capacity β€” dirt bikes, scooters and light road bikes
  • 75-1/4 in track length β€” supports the full wheelbase
  • 5-1/2 in track width β€” sized for a motorcycle tyre
  • 47 in loading ramp β€” a walk-up angle, not a lift
  • Fits 2 in Class III or IV hitch β€” standard receiver size
  • Aluminum construction β€” 36.5 lbs and corrosion free
  • Bolt-on installation β€” fits and removes without tools beyond a wrench
  • Removable β€” comes off the receiver when the tow ball is needed

Check the Hitch Rating, Not Just the Carrier

The number that limits a hitch carrier is rarely the carrier. It is the receiver's tongue weight rating, and a bike sitting several feet behind the bumper applies leverage that a straight 400 lbs on the ball does not.

This carrier requires a Class III or IV receiver in the 2 inch size for that reason. Both classes carry the tongue weight a loaded carrier generates; a Class I or II receiver does not.

Within that, 400 lbs covers most dirt bikes, trail bikes and scooters comfortably. A full-size road bike is outside it β€” that is a trailer job.

Aluminum Because It Comes On and Off

A hitch carrier is not a permanent fixture. It goes on for the trip and comes off so the receiver is free, which means it gets carried by hand several times a season.

At 36.5 lbs this one is a genuine one-person lift. Steel at the same size would be closer to seventy, and would start rusting at the first stone chip.

The 47-inch ramp is the other half of making it a one-person job β€” a bike is walked up it rather than lifted onto the track, which is the part that otherwise needs a second person.

The Right Motorcycle Carrier for Your Truck

To haul a light bike without a trailer, the AMC-400 is the carrier: 400 lbs on a 75-1/4 in track, loaded by a 47 in ramp.
