9HP Honda-Powered Gas Air Compressor — 18 CFM Mobile Service
A mobile service truck running 1/2" impact wrenches and air tools needs reliable air without 220V shore power. The trick is finding a compressor that's powerful enough to keep up but light and compact enough that it doesn't eat the entire bed of the truck.
The Atlas Air Force AF9G hits that target with a 9HP Honda GX270 electric-start gas engine, a 3-cylinder 2-stage pump, and a USA-made 30-gallon horizontal tank. Output is 18 CFM at 90 PSI — enough for 1/2" impacts, ratchets, blow guns, and continuous-duty pneumatic tools.

Honda GX270 9HP Engine
The Honda GX270 is one of the most widely used commercial gas engines in the trades — generators, pressure washers, water pumps, and compressors all rely on it because it starts, runs, and lasts. Electric start removes the pull-cord variable on cold mornings.
EPA and CARB emission compliance means the AF9G is legal for sale and use in all 50 states including California. The engine includes a pneumatic throttle control and head unloaders, dropping the engine to idle when tank pressure is reached and ramping back up only when the tank needs more air — saving fuel and engine wear on partial-load days.
3-Cylinder 2-Stage Pump and 30-Gallon Tank
A 3-cylinder 2-stage pump runs more smoothly than a 2-cylinder pump at the same output — three power pulses per revolution instead of two, which means less vibration and less stress on the crankshaft. Atlas runs the AF9G pump as a 2-stage configuration, so high-pressure output stays cool and pump life extends.
The 30-gallon USA-made horizontal tank is sized for short-burst impact work without constant pump cycling. The finned inlet tube on the tank cools incoming compressed air, which reduces water accumulation and extends the life of downstream tools.
The Right Mobile Gas Compressor for Your Shop
At 9HP Honda, 18 CFM at 90 PSI, and 175 PSI maximum, the AF9G is the working-truck size in the Atlas Air Force gas compressor line. Big enough to run a 1/2" impact and continuous air tools, compact enough to fit on a typical service-truck deck.
If you run a 1" gun on truck-tire lug nuts daily, step up to the AF14G with the Kohler CH440 14HP engine. For everything below that — daily mobile service, tire shop overflow, jobsite air — the AF9G is the right tool.
