Transmission Drain Funnel for Catching Service Fluid Off Standard Oil Drains
Pulling a transmission pan, transfer case, or differential cover over a standard waste-oil drain catches the cleanest part of the drain — but the splash zone reaches off the drain's small dish and onto the floor. A wider, deeper catch surface fitted on top of the drain keeps the bay clean and your shop's slip-and-fall risk down.
The Atlas ATEHT-TDF is a plastic transmission drain funnel with a 23" x 22" catch area that sits on top of any standard rolling oil drain. It catches fluid runoff from transmissions, transfer cases, and differentials so the existing drain reservoir does the storage and the funnel does the splash containment.
What's Included
- Atlas plastic transmission drain funnel (23" x 22" catch area)
- Open-pour outlet that drops into a standard oil-drain dish
- Lightweight plastic body that one tech can position by hand
Made For
Built for any service bay that already runs a portable oil drain and wants to keep transmission and gear-oil service messes off the floor — without buying a dedicated trans-fluid drain.
- Independent auto repair shops doing routine drivetrain service
- Quick-lube and transmission flush bays
- Dealership service departments
- Fleet maintenance facilities servicing differentials and transfer cases
- Serious home garages with their own rolling drain
Features
-
23" x 22" Catch Area — A wide, square catch surface holds the splash from a dropped transmission pan or a removed differential cover — no fluid running off the front edge of a standard drain dish.
-
Drops Onto Standard Oil Drains — Sits on top of any conventional portable drain reservoir, so the shop's existing 17–25 gallon drain handles fluid capture and disposal.
-
Lightweight Plastic Construction — One tech moves it bay to bay; nothing to dent and nothing that conducts heat from a hot drain pan.
-
Smooth Pour Surface — The plastic surface releases gear oil and ATF cleanly without trapping the heavy stuff in the corners of the funnel.
-
Compact When Off the Drain — Stands or stores flat against a wall when not in use — doesn't take up bay floor space like a dedicated trans drain.
-
Universal Drivetrain Fit — Sized to catch from FWD transmission pans, full-size truck transfer cases, and differential covers without repositioning the drain underneath.
Why a Dedicated Drain Funnel Instead of Just the Drain
A standard portable shop oil drain has a 17"–20" round catch dish — fine for an oil pan plug drain, but undersized for a dropped automatic transmission pan that's still attached at one corner. Fluid runs off the back edge of a small dish and onto the bay floor.
Setting this 23" x 22" plastic funnel on top of the existing drain extends the catch area significantly — about 40 percent more surface in each direction — and gives the tech room to rotate the pan as the last of the fluid drips out, without chasing the drain across the floor.
Built for the Way Drivetrain Service Actually Happens
Differential covers and transfer-case housings don't drain through a neat plug hole — once the bolts come loose, the cover hinges open and fluid pours out over the lip of the housing. The wide catch area on the ATEHT-TDF gives that pour something to land on regardless of which side the cover hinges from.
The funnel is plastic, not steel, so it won't sit on a hot transmission pan and conduct heat back through your hands. It also stores against a wall between jobs instead of taking up bay floor space like a dedicated transmission drain.
The Right Drain Funnel for Your Shop
If your shop already runs a portable oil drain, the Atlas ATEHT-TDF is the cheapest upgrade you can make to keep drivetrain service clean — 23" x 22" of plastic catch surface that fits on top of what you already own.
It's the same plastic funnel Atlas includes with its larger waste-oil drain accessory line, sold here on its own so you can match it to any drain you already have on the floor.
